Eesti Kool / Estonian School

Washingtoni Eesti Kool tegutseb 2011. aastast (kui Washingtoni Eesti Seltsi programm) eesmärgiga hoida eesti keelt ja meelt Ameerikas Washingtoni ümbruses elavate laste hulgas. Koolis on lapsed vanuses 3-14 eluaastat ning jagatud vanuse ja keeleoskuse järgi klassidesse. Vastavalt keeleoskusele on õppemeetodid valitud kas eesti keelt emakeele või eesti keelt teise keele rääkijatele. Lisaks keeleõppele on keeletundide osaks eesti muinasjuttude, traditsioonide, kommete ja ajaloo tutvustamine. Keeletundidele täiendavalt on meil ka kunsti ning muusika-rahvatantsu tunnid.

Washingtoni Eesti Kool pälvis Eesti Vabariigi Välisministeeriumi 2015. aasta rahvadiplomaatia auhinna eestluse hoidmise ja säilitamise eest Ameerika Ühendriikides!

Ootame oma kooli kõiki eesti keele huvilisi särasilmseid ja rõõmsameelseid lapsi. Eesti keele oskuse tase ei ole oluline!

The Washington Estonian School was founded in 2011 (as a program under Washington Estonian Society) with the objective to uphold Estonian language and traditions among children in the Washington area. Children of ages 3-14 are assigned to classes fitting to the kids’ age and language proficiency. The teaching methods are selected according to whether the children's primary language at home is Estonian or English. In addition to the language lessons, children learn about the Estonian tales, traditions, ethnic customs, history, music, folk dance, and art.

Washington Estonian School received the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia 2015 Public Diplomacy Award for upholding of the Estonian culture and language in the United States!

The school meets from September through May on every other Saturday from 10 AM to 12:30 PM.
